Deep Silver may be “Deeply Sorry” about offending people with their headless and armless bloody bikini statue, but they are still proceeding with including it as a preorder bonus for Special Editions in Europe and Australia.
When the statue was originally revealed, in January 2013, Deep Silver said they sincerely regret this choice and they would never make a business decision that would be found so offensive.
Is this something that the US just can’t stomach but the rest of the world can appreciate? How do you think our kids, especially younger ones, react when they see such violence?
Dead Island Riptide is available today on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Daniel really likes his Warships with a focus on the 70’s!
We need to stop for a moment and wish a very happy birthday to UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, SELECT, START. Of course, this is the famous Konami Code with bonus lives for both players as seen in Contra. Oh Contra, how much joy you brought me in my youth!
Did you know that the code originally appeared, this week, in the 1986 release of Gradius? What memories do you have of the famous Konami Code?
What is the best way to share console memories of your youth, like the Konami Code, with the next generation? Can they ever really understand the impact that the code had in pop culture and the videogame world?
THQ has officially ended with the remaining assets being sold off to the highest bidder. Gearbox Software ended up winning the rights to Homeworld and Nordic Games won the rights to the Darksiders franchise.
Okay, we know Gearbox Software is the studio behind the awesome Borderlands franchise and that Aliens: Colonial Marines mess–but who is Nordic Games? They are the Publisher that released Alan Wake and Painkiller: Resurrection on the PC Platform.
Here is the breakdown of what was sold:
“$4.9 million from Nordic Games Licensing AB, a Swedish-based video games publisher, for Darksiders, Red Faction, MX vs ATV, Other Owned Software (includes Destroy all Humans!, Summoner and more), and Other Licensed Software (includes Marvel Super Hero Squad, Supreme Commander and more);
$1.35 million from Gearbox Software, LLC, a Plano, Tex.-based developer of interactive entertainment, for Homeworld; and
$.3 million from 505 Games Srl, an Italian video game publisher, for Drawn to Life and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter
505 Games is a publisher behind titles such as Terraria, Cooking Mama and Armored Core.“
Nintendo surprised fans by revealing they will release Earthbound on the Wii U Virtual Console. Did you know that Earthbound is only one of the Role Playing Games better known as Mother in Japan? Earthbound, in Japan, was Mother 2. One of the most requested entries, in the franchise, Mother 3, never saw release on the GBA despite an outcry from fans.
In fact, a group of fans did a translation and Clyde Mandelin, who headed up the translation project, said they would be more than happy for Nintendo to take, and use, their script to properly release Mother 3 to the masses. The script was originally completed in 2008.
What do you think the chances are that Nintendo releases Mother 3 outside of Japan? Are there any games, exclusive to the Japanese market, that never made it to the states that you would love to see released in the US?
Kaleb just reviewed such a title this last week–Shin Megami Tesami: Digital Devil Saga: Soul Hackers. This was originally a 1997 Saturn game that was later released, as a PlayStation game, but never outside of Japan.
How many Earthbound fans will buy a Wii U just to play the Virtual Console version of their favorite RPG?
Nintendo also announced a new 3DS Yoshi’s Island sequel and a new 3DS Zelda title set in the world of A Link to the Past. As a fan of both of these franchises, I have big hopes for these games. What do you expect Nintendo to deliver?
Pizza Hut is coming to Xbox Live and 360 owners can order a pizza and have it delivered to their house. Pizza Hut made history in EverQuest 2 where players could type /pizza to order a pizza.
Are we entering an age where our kids will order food on their consoles? Should we be concerned or is this just where technology is headed?
